The Graphic Arts Industry is Booming in Turkey The printing industry in Turkey is growing even faster than the rest of its economy, which is already experiencing a boom. The advertising volume in Turkey has quadrupled in the last five years. Printed media are profiting from this just as much as electronic media. The average number of pages in a Turkish daily newspaper was between 36 and 40 in 1995, for example, while today it is between 56 and 68.The supplement business has also greatly increased. The weekend edition of the “Hürriyet” now weighs more than a kilogram.
The largest Turkish mailroom at Hürriyet, in Istanbul, came from Muller Martini. There are currently four NewsLiner inserting systems in use there, as well as a FlexiRoll buffer and storage system. With this installation, Muller Martini triggered a supplement boom, which also has implications for press delivery systems and saddle stitching. |
