Livio Barbagallo, managing director of Müller Martini Australia, was more than happy with the response from visitors to the company’s stand at PrintEx. “I was very impressed with quality of customers from Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. There was a lot of interest in the Alprinta 74V printing unit on the stand as well in the demonstration of CIP4 via a flat screen presentation to show the link between production, press and post-press.”
Barbagallo has high hopes for the acceptance of the Alprinta line (pictured above) in Australia. “The application possibilities of the Alprinta are nearly limitless. Even self-adhesive labels on backing material and bottle labels made of paper or plastic foils can be produced with in-line finishing, punching, die cutting, perforating, cross-cutting and stacking, all in one pass,” he noted.
In addition to fixed format inserts for each selected print repeat, Alprinta can be configured with size-variable print inserts that allow changes of individual plate and blanket cylinders in less than five minutes without tools, giving the Alprinta format diversity that was previously only known to flexo and rotogravure printing. As well as the production of high-quality commercial work and direct mail, flexible packaging materials and labels, the Alprinta is an ideal press for larger production runs and products to be delivered in sheets, rolls, as signatures, or as fan-fold.
The Alprinta’s colour control system clearly visualizes the colour profile via an easy-to-operate touch screen monitor. The operator can enter jobs very quickly through the automatic makeready system, which presets the press and eliminates repeated inputting of job data. This reduces waste and significantly shortens makeready times. The Alprinta is prepared for the requirements of the JDF standard and can be fully integrated into the digital workflow.
