As a world-renowned specialist in finishing, Muller Martini does not only pay great attention to wire-stitched and adhesive-bound products. Instead, the Swiss machine manufacturer also puts special focus on the finishing production process with the correct compensating stackers and/or fully-automatic inline packaging lines with film wrapping, shrinking, addressing and palletizing.
Muller Martini film-wrapping machines: safe, environmentally friendly and reliable Today, magazines, books and newspapers are mostly transported as palletised and environmentally friendly film-wrapped stacks. During the production process, after being stacked by compensating stackers, finished printed products arrive at the film-wrapping machine.
Reliable production is assured by crucial factors such as cycle time matching production, controlled and thus energy-saving impulse welding, as well as smooth stopping and acceleration of the stacks during wrapping and impulse sealing. The machine operator’s work is made emission free thanks to an environmentally friendly sealing process that uses a thin welding rod as well as a knife which runs perpendicular.
The film is fed extremely accurately during the wrapping process: the stacks are first pressed and then wrapped using electronically controlled impulse welding. The sealer bar’s holding position can then be adjusted to meet the height of the next stack. Vacuum belts provide safe transport, even for light products. Muller Martini film-wrapping machines are in a league above the rest thanks to their layout flexibility, Muller Martini’s renowned robust design and good accessibility.
Film wrapping behind saddler stitchers, perfect binders and newspaper distribution systems is all part of Muller Martini’s product portfolio which offers everything from diverse solutions to total systems for the perfect protection of printed products.
Film-wrapping machine 6254 for higher net output The film-wrapping machine 6254 is used for even stack flow and higher net output. Particularly short cycle times can be reached thanks to the controlled stack height sensor. The inlet conveyor belt, with holding position, is controlled directly by the film-wrapping machine and can also be lifted up. This allows the machine operator good access to the machine from both sides. In order to be able to seal small stacks, if required, a side sealer can be attached to the film-wrapping machine 6254 and integrated into the production process.
Film-wrapping machine 6257 for higher flexibility The 6257 film-wrapping machine also allows layout flexible 90 degree corner solutions. Stacks can be fed from the left, right or both sides. The machine can also be used in a straight through mode. With this option, the jam delivery (even flow) can be selected in case of a downstream machine stop. This film-wrapping machine’s speciality is that it can even wrap in multi-purpose usage. In this case, two or four small format product stacks are brought together and packed in one bundle. The bundle output is supported by air nozzles in the turn unit.
Both film-wrapping machine models come with standardized Muller Martini controls. The machines can be operated from both sides with simple operator guidance text displays, which users are already familiar with from other Muller Martini products.
After wrapping, the user (depending on production speed) is given the choice of two different shrink tunnels. The bundles are perfectly handled thanks to the additional nip rollers on the tunnels; these smoothly press the wrap to the sides of the bundles.
Muller Martini also offers the Cohiba (up to 26 stacks/minute) and Fontana (up to 32 stacks/minute) automatic palletizers for a streamlined and perfect product handling at the end of the production chain. |
