Orbit Three-knife Trimmer – High Performance Thanks to Leading Edge Technology
The Orbit three knife-trimmer from Muller Martini produces high quality, perfect bound products extremely cost effectively. With innovative technology and full automation it is ideally suited for use in the upper performance range even with maximum net output.

Thanks to optimized process steps and operation sequences the Orbit three-knife trimmer produces high quality, perfect bound products extremely cost effectively.

In order to achieve the high net output, the Orbit’s process steps and operation sequences have been optimized, and this has resulted in a major decrease in unproductive time. The three-knife trimmer’s full automation make’s it possible to set-up in a minimum of three minutes and to changeover without tools. Even fine corrections can be done on the run without interrupting production.

SmartPress for Consistent Product Quality
For optimum trim quality, Muller Martini has developed the SmartPress technology which guarantees a gentle, controlled press process. The compact book pressing ensures, even with bulky products, that all air between the sheets can escape completely so that the product can be perfectly trimmed. The SmartPress technology works adaptively. This means: The pressing adapts automatically to fluctuations in product thickness while the machine is running and ensures a consistent book quality.

The optimized swing cut ensures a perfectly trimmed book spine.

Optimized Swing Cut
The Orbit three-knife trimmer’s swing cut principle has also been further optimized. The drives for the transportation, pressing and cutting units have been decoupled. This way an ideal trimming speed is guaranteed irrespective of the cycle time of the machine. At the same time the pull movement of the knife during trimming was increased so that the book spine retains its perfect form.

The Orbit three-knife trimmer is very intuitive to operate. The clearly arranged operating concept makes it possible to prepare the subsequent order while the current production is running. It can also be connected via JDF/JMF to the digital workflow.
