Open House 25 and 26 October 2006, in Maulburg, Germany: Alprinta-V Prints Labels and Flexible Packaging
The Alprinta web offset press is traditionally used for high quality commercial printing and direct mail applications. However, the Alprinta-V with its infinite size variability and its specially developed flexo tower is also a attractive alternative for the production of flexible packaging and labels. Muller Martini Druckmaschinen GmbH demonstrated this fact at its open house on 25 and 26 October 2006 in Maulburg, Germany.

With its Alprinta-V, Muller Martini offers a web press that can be used as a infinitely size-variable offset press for printing labels and packaging and for direct mail and commercial printing.

The Alprinta web offset press is the ideal choice for the production of cut sheets, rolls and continuous fold products. It delivers superb print quality at production speeds up to 457 m/min with commensurately high productivity. The high performance ink train was specially developed to meet the requirements in commercial and packaging printing. The innovative slider key ink duct is motorized, and the remote ink control is integrated into the machine control system as standard. The job data can be read in from prepress via the make ready system or can be entered and saved directly at the touch screen. This feature makes it much easier to render jobs reproducible.

High Degree of Flexibility Thanks to Infinitely Size-Variable Inserts
Today’s market demands that printing companies cover a broad product range and be able to print a variety of different materials. The new Alprinta-V has this flexibility. With its recognized high print quality and low cost printing methods, it also ideally complements flexo and rotogravure printing in the production of flexible packaging and labels, as Muller Martini demonstrated at its open house in Maulburg.

Flexo tower

New Flexo Tower for Optimum Hybrid Solutions
Muller Martini presented a newly developed flexo tower for the hybrid machines required in this segment. Equipped with servo-motors, the tower has the same infinite size variability as offset towers. In offset towers, a size change involves exchanging the handy, lightweight carbon cylinders, whereas in the flexo tower, it entails only sliding a new size sleeve on the air shaft. This same technique is used for changing the anilox roller, which is also designed as a sleeve. All positioning tasks during a size change are motor-driven and automatically adjusted during the job change.

Another highlight of the Alprinta-V is the new register controller which is completely integrated into the machine control system. This feature marks yet another successful step in the consistent further automation of the machine and significantly reduces the waste rate.

Available in Two Widths
The Alprinta-V is available in two widths (520 and 740 mm) and can be operated at a speed of up to 365 m/min (1200 ft/min). This model allows quick size changes at printing lengths of 20 to 28 1/3 inches, or 508 to 720 mm.
