“Drupa is and remains the big event for the graphic arts industry,” said Bruno Müller, CEO of Muller Martini, in his short talk to the collected Muller Martini team ahead of the opening. In keeping with the importance of the world’s large trade fair for the graphic arts industry, Muller Martini is both unveiling new machines for the first time and displaying established systems featuring numerous technical innovations at its impressive 2,100 m2 stand. “Our modern, modular industrial solutions take account of the latest technologies and offer the highest possible investment protection,” Bruno Müller said.
On the very first day of drupa, countless visitors saw for themselves the technical innovations that Muller Martini offers for digital and offset printing.

The new FlexLiner inserting system, which increases efficiency in the mailroom and creates new opportunities for innovative insert marketing and attractive product design, and the new FlexPack bundle-building system, which combines all processes such as stacking, bottom sheet feeding and lettering, top sheet printing, top sheet application and package strapping in a compact machine, are being shown to the wider public for the first time at drupa.
Another premiere is the Alegro perfect binder. It is unique in its class thanks to motion control technology, which ensures optimized process steps, resulting in maximum product quality over a wide range of sizes. Motion control technology also ensures efficient and precise production right from the first book with the Diamant MC Hybrid bookline. That is essential for one-off book production, such as of photo books. The new Ventura MC Compact book sewing machine, which can be operated conveniently by a single person, offers excellent stitching quality for a wide range of product types and takes up floor space of just two by two meters.
The Presto II saddle stitcher for less complex job structures and the Primera E160 in the high-output range have both become even more efficient and user-friendly thanks to the setup wizard and the connection to the Connex data and process management system. The VSOP web printing press for innovative package printing on paper, foil and cardboard boasts numerous technical and functional innovations.
The fully integrated SigmaLine complete solution for the production of digitally printed books, magazines and catalogs also manages micro print runs cost-effectively and flexibly. Muller Martini’s SigmaLine offers a finishing solution for digital printing, designed to meet the enhanced performance of the new printing machines, and is also being shown at drupa at HP in Hall 4, Stand D60, at KBA in Hall 16, Stand C47 and at MBO in Hall 6, Stand A39.
“Our solutions equip customers optimally for both offset and digital printing, so that they can meet the market needs of today and tomorrow,” Bruno Müller said.
Since service is of ever greater importance in the graphic arts industry (keywords here are higher availability of systems, more cost-effective production, longer lifecycle of equipment), Muller Martini is also showing the ways in which graphic arts companies can expand and optimize their machine lineup to boost cost-effectiveness. Muller Martini experts are demonstrating live on a PrimePlus Amrys from 2006 how the system can be analyzed and potential for improvement be identified using the MMServices module MMInspect. |
