Incredibly fast: book sewing with Ventura MC
Visitors were amazed with the Ventura MC book sewing machine at Muller Martini’s 2008 drupa stand. An oblong sized product with inserted signatures was thread sewn in excellent quality on the Ventura MC at the rapid speed of 200 cycles per minute.

Birgit Tews, Industrial Technician at Kösel in Allgaeu, is impressed by the MC technology. Due to MC, it is possible to produce the oblong sized product with inserted signatures at the high speed of 200 cycles per minute. Mike Noorlander, operator of the new Ventura MC, explains to her how the quality on this machine is controlled through a bar code or the image recognition mode with Asir 3.

At the Muller Martini stand many drupa visitors were amazed by the rapid production of oblong 257 x 175 mm sized bookblocks with inserted signatures. The Ventura MC processes even this demanding product at a speed of 200 cycles per minute – that is what you call efficient book sewing!

MC technique allows sensational production speed
The new motion control technology makes it possible. It ensures reliable processing even at the highest speeds. The signatures are positioned with servo control on the sewing saddle and can be aligned on the right. This and the two-part design of the sewing saddle allow high production speeds even with multiple-up production and demanding products.

Ventura MC has even more highlights to offer in addition to the MC technology. The modular opening system offers a whole series of opening variations. With it the widest range of paper and signature types, with and without low folio lap, can be optimally opened. Image and bar code recognition with Asir 3 checks all signatures from the inside and guarantees the best production reliability.

Best product quality with air blast technique and thread heat sealing
The thread loop formation is aided by blast air and allows the choice between plain stitch, staggered stitch and combined staggered stitch through a simple change in the blast direction. Depending on the product, spine build-up can be significantly minimized this way. The bookblocks retain their compact shape due to the heat-sealed loops. This guarantees the highest quality bookblocks.

Extremely convenient machine operation
The settings for the Ventura MC are configured menu-driven on the touchscreen. Even personnel without computer experience can easily operate the machine. The machine can store one thousand different jobs. With a USB connection it is also possible to store and analyze data externally. Production data can be exchanged between different Venturas over an optional Ethernet connection.

Muller Martini also offers an automatic stack infeed with buffer as alternative to the ergonomically designed feeders. This allows the operator to work flexibly and efficiently, and gentle feeding is guaranteed. The new door concept with its three-part sliding door ensures easy access everywhere. There are three delivery variations available to choose from: stacked, shingled, or standing.

A two-part sewing saddle swings the open signatures into the sewing system. The two-part design allows a high production speed even with multiple-up production. Because, even as one signature is still being stitched, the next signature already reaches the first part of the sewing saddle. The signatures can be aligned on the right on the saddle. Production can run with a higher cycle time because of the short path for the signature on the sewing saddle.
