Ifra 2007 ProLiner’s success continues to grow
Just a few months after its market launch, the ProLiner modular inserting system from Muller Martini can already report numerous successes: a dozen ProLiner lines have already been sold in Europe. A further four were recently added at Main-Echo in Aschaffenburg/D and NDC Grafisch Bedrijf in Leeuwarden/NL.

The new ProLiner inserting system from Muller Martini stands for efficiency, simple settings and high process safety.

The demands for flexible mailrooms ready for the future are increasing. For many newspaper printers, zoning and regionalization have meant an increased number of different products. At the same time, the numbers of pre-products and inserts are growing and increased added value and semi-commercial production are opening up new sources of income. The new inserting system from Muller Martini offers newspaper businesses of all sizes an inserting system that is tailor-made to their company’s specific needs from day one. Furthermore, it can be quickly expanded and adapted to changes in production.

This has been recognized by a stream of newspaper publishers in Europe who have already opted to install the new ProLiner system into their business. These are: AZ Medien AG in Aarau/CH, Miller Zeitungsverlag GmbH in Traunstein/D, As Diena in Riga/LV and Kathimerini in Athens/GR which will all start production with one ProLiner system. Two ProLiner systems will be installed at WAZ TA-Druckhaus in Erfurt/D and Artes Graficas del Atlantico AGA in Las Palmas/E. Cre-a in Barcelona/E will now receive four systems.

Three ProLiner Systems for NDC Grafisch Bedrijf in Leeuwarden/NL
NDC Grafisch Bedrijf in Leeuwarden, northern Holland, also recently opted for the advanced ProLiner technology. The publishing house will soon concentrate its production capacities on the Leeuwarden site. The existing mailroom from another provider will be replaced with the very latest Muller Martini technology.

NewsGrip-A transporters will be used for the press delivery and neat newspaper transport (with the possibility to work in 2:1 mode). They will bring the products from the three finishing lines directly to the ProLiner inserting system (Press-to-Pocket). The highly modern Mailroom Production Control system (MPC) will take over control of the entire system including the distribution of bundles to the correct ramp stations.

The first ProLiner line will start production in November, 2008. The other two inserting systems will be introduced in a second phase in September, 2009. Then all editions of the “Dagblad van hed Noorden“(circulation 180, 000 copies/day) and the “Leeuwarden Courant” (circulation 120, 000 copies/day) will be finished with the new ProLiner systems.

Main-Echo in Aschaffenburg/D also receives New ProLiner System
A further ProLiner inserting system will be installed mid-2008 at Main-Echo in Aschaffenburg/D. There the new line will replace a competitor’s older line. A FlexiRoll buffer will be used for the dynamic buffering of main products and the automatic feeding of pre-products. Eight further feeding stations are available for the manual feeding of inserts. In addition, four NewsStack compensating stacker lines with top-sheet applicator for high performance bundle building, as well as belts for delivery up to the ramps will also be installed. The complete system is controlled by a new generation MPC control system.

In the future, complete editions of the “Main-Echo” (approx. 90, 000 copies/day) for the Aschaffenburg area with eight split runs as well as a free weekly newspaper “Top-Shop” (240, 000 copies) will be produced on the new system.
