Diamant MC 60 bookline

The in-line system with the Diamant Bookline guarantees a high level of efficiency, even in the case of small runs. With the Diamant Bookline the book manufacturer can produce standard hardcover books, as well as books with integral, full-flap or even plastic covers – all at top quality.

Motion control for flexible production
The innovative Motion Control gives the Diamant MC 60 exactly those degrees of freedom that are necessary for an optimum book production. The intelligent mechatronic machine concept optimizes the motions of the single process steps as needed for the product. Flexibility and quality thus increase while changeover times decrease. Motion Control reduces the overhead costs and enhances the production process capability.

The following features ensure economic production when manufacturing hardcover books

  • Short changeover times because of the high degree of automation
  • Quality control systems ensure perfect products
  • High output
  • Book blocks are backed twice
  • Highest book quality from the very first book due to MC (Motion Control)
  • Commander for data transfer

Short setup times
Fast changeover is effected with the help of highly developed automation provided by Amrys, the automatic make ready system. Operation is by means of a touch screen via the Commander. In addition, the integration of the system into CIP3/CIP4 is possible. Using the Commander, the Diamant, consisting of RHE casing-in line and EP 680 joint forming and pressing machine, as well as the BLSD 650 book stacker are controlled and set up centrally.
For particularly fast changeovers, Müller Martini has developed the Tandem headbanding station and the variable case feeder. Changing from one product to another or from an empty headband roll to a full one during production is now possible without or with very few empty cycles.

High-quality rounding
The spines of the incoming blocks are warmed up by infrared heaters so that they can be perfectly rounded. Furthermore in the Diamant the products are backed in two full wipes. This ensures a perfect rounding, a permanent and stable joint and an outstanding book quality.

Joint forming and pressing
After casing-in the book obtains the final, permanent shape in the joint forming and pressing machine. The patented process of joint forming and pressing guarantees a perfect book shape. The continuous and fullsurface pressing ensures the durably perfect shape of the books. Temperature and pressing pressure are continuously variable during joint forming, which means that even sensitive cover materials are gently processed. The long joint forming and pressing times in the Diamant MC 60 are achieved through the dual stream principle. These are decisive factors for the exceptional quality of the manufactured books.

Aside from the high process reliability, ease of operation, short setup times and low maintenance the very low power consumption also contributes to the overall efficiency of the system.
