Two Proliner Inserting Systems for the Märkische Allgemeine Daily
The Märkische Verlags- und Druck-Gesellschaft mbH in Potsdam, Germany opts for two variable-size ProLiner inserting systems for the production of newspapers ranging from Berliner to the Nordic formats. It utilizes the modular Mailroom Production Control (MPC) system to process challenging zone orders.

The Märkische Verlags- und Druck-Gesellschaft mbH Potsdam (MVD) publishes the Märkische Allgemeine, Brandenburg’s highest-circulation subscription newspaper. 15 local editions appear daily with total print circulation of over 170,000 copies, which are read by approximately 444,000 people.

The main product of the MVD is the Märkische Allgemeine (MAZ), which appears in Rhenish) format. In addition, it prints split run editions of the Frankfurter Allgemeine (FAZ) and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung (FAS) in Potsdam in Nordic format. It also produces the weekly advertising newspaper WochenSpiegel.

As of summer of 2008, two new ProLiner systems will replace the current four Müller Martini Biliner inserting machines.

Both systems have three paced infeeds for the main and pre-printed sections and eight or sixteen manual feeders, respectively, with streamfeeder feeding. Both ProLiner systems are equipped with immediate openings. This allows opening the pre-printed sections to insert advertising sections according to the editorial environment that the advertiser wishes to target. The ProLiner systems for the Märkische Allgemeine are equipped with further format variability. In the future, it will be possible to process all products ranging from Berliner to Nordic formats. That offers the Märkischen Verlags- und Druck-Gesellschaft mbH maximum flexibility in processing varying print orders.

An existing buffer system separates the press from the mailroom and thereby offers higher efficiency through optimal process speed in both areas.

The six package lines are each equipped with a NewsStack compensating stacker and automatic top sheet feeder. The NewsSorter package transporter distributes the packages on the respective loading docks.

The ProLiner excels through its straightforward user guidance and optimum level of clarity: all the relevant production data can be read off on the display of the controller.

The extremely manageable Mailroom Production Control (MPC) system monitors and directs the new mailroom equipment. It enables high flexibility in terms of order processing and zone production. One can prepare complete production messages and analyses with the aid of the integrated reporting system.
