The last Tigra perfect binder goes to Greece

They were there during the production of all Tigras (from left): Eugene Tony Anthony (22 years at Muller Martini), Adam Fritschi (32 years at Muller Martini), Clifford Pete Montgomery (21 years at Muller Martini).

An era came to a end at the Muller Martini plant in Newport News, Virginia: A few weeks ago the last Tigra perfect binder was shipped out. It goes to the printing plant of the Greek Ministry of Finance in Athens. Launched in 1997 as successor to the Panda perfect binder (1985 – 1999), a total of 745 perfect binders of this category have been sold. They were all produced in Newport News where Muller Martini, with over 25 000 m2 area and more than 300 employees, has the largest production facility for bookbinding systems available in the USA. Aside from perfect binders also saddle stitchers, palletizers, and components of the SigmaLine for Books on Demand are produced there. Like the Tigra, the successor model, Pantera, is a great success. The new Muller Martini perfect binder, first introduced in 2006 at the IPEX has been sold around 100 times in two years.
