BEA Printing in Nivelles: “We are Extremely Satisfied with the SLS3000 Inserting System from Muller Martini”
Last year, BEA Printing, a company in the Italian Colasanto Group, chose to invest in a new SLS3000 inserting system from Muller Martini."A decision for which we have no regrets, not even today," emphasizes Michel Buyck, BEA's Printing and Shipping Production Manager.

BEA Printing in Brussels achieves high net speeds and first-class newspaper quality with the SLS3000 inserting system from Müller Martini.

In Nivelles, near the Belgian capital of Brussels, the international newspaper printer Colasanto produces 50,000 copies of the Financial Times six days a week. The newspapers are produced in the new printing center in the industrial zone of Nivelles, on a completely new system with a Global Web 53.For print finishing, BEA Printing chose a Muller Martini solution, with a SLS3000 inserting system.

“The high inserting speed of 35,000 copies/hour was an important argument for the SLS3000 system," recalls Production Manager Michel Buyck."That is about the same as our maximum press speed. Experiences with the SLS3000 so far have been very positive. The system can be set up in about ten minutes, and has actually been producing very reliably from the first day onward, at our targeted run speed of 28,000 copies/hour."

Inserting Gaining More Importance
In the SLS3000 inserting system, the main sections are transported by NewsGrip-A clamp conveyors, directly from the press, and fed directly to the horizontal inserting pockets of the system (press-to-pocket). BEA Printing has four feeders available in Nivelles for inserting pre-products and commercial inserts. Inserting has also gained increasing importance in Belgium.“We insert on four to six days per week on average," Michel Buyck estimates."That's commercial pre-prints, magazines, periodicals, brochures or reply cards."

Two of the four feeders at BEA Printing are loaded automatically with Streamfeeders. This enables greater net output and reduces manual efforts. The finished newspaper copies are then stacked on a packaging line with PrintStack CN-80, film-wrapped and cross-strapped.

Buyck: “The MIRS Control System is Just Perfect!”
In addition to the high net speeds, the quality of the products also plays a decisive role for BEA Printing.“The Missed Insert Repair System (MIRS) from Muller Martini convinced us immediately,” said Michel Buyck.“The system is just perfect!"

With the MIRS control system, missing products are recognized and repaired in a second pass.“This allows us to be absolutely certain that 100 percent of the printed products all have inserted products, as well.”
