The 75 guests at Publikation Digital AG’s summer festival watched “live” as a soft-cover book was created from a PDF file in a matter of minutes on the Müller Martini SigmaLine.
It has been two years since Publikation Digital AG started production in Obergerlafingen, in the canton of Solothurn. In the meantime, the innovative business has established itself as a permanent feature on the Swiss digital printing scene. The balance drawn by CEO, Edwin Tschan, in his short speech at the summer festival reflected this encouraging situation, and the atmosphere at the two events was equally upbeat, both among the company officials and among the customers who were visibly impressed.
The 75 guests watched “live” as a soft-cover book was created from a PDF file in a matter of minutes. They also gained an idea of the wide range offered by Publikation Digital AG, which focuses exclusively on digital printing. With Müller Martini’s SigmaLine complete system, the first of its kind in the German-speaking world, the innovative company concentrates on small and medium-sized runs of specialist and non-fiction books, brochures, trade journals, documentation and manuals for industry and commerce, as well as extracts from technical catalogs.
Yet the summer festival, with its theme of “Switzerland twice”, did not just showcase products that were printed in Switzerland; in the second part of the event, guests were able to enjoy a typical Swiss sport. At the “Hornussen” field in Zuchwil, after an introduction by the local Hornussen club (the name literally means “hornets”, on account of the buzzing sound made by the puck – the “nouss” – whizzing through the air), everyone had a chance to try to hit the “nouss” with the bat and send it flying as far as possible down the field.
