Delivery Systems from Muller Martini: Wide Offering of Compensating and Book Stackers
Whether it’s wire-stitched magazines, perfect-bound brochures or hardcovers that have to be stacked, Muller Martini offers the right option for the widest variety of product types when it comes to the reliable and protective stacking and compensate-stacking of printed products.

Robusto compensating stacker, for efficient print finishing in production networks with large saddle stitching systems.

Saddle stitching: Apollo, Perfetto and Robusto for Fast and Reliable Compensate-Stacking
Efficient compensating stackers are very important for production systems with saddle stitching systems. Muller Martini offers the following three types for the efficient and reliable product compensate-stacking:

Apollo (11,000 to 16,000 Cycles/hr)
The Apollo processes magazines, brochures, catalogs and advertising supplements into neat layers or cross-stacked piles. This makes strapping or packaging of the products easier. The machine is easy to operate and highly efficient. Depending on product size, speeds of up to 16,000 cycles per hour can be achieved.

Perfetto (16,000 Cycles/hr)
The Perfetto compensating stacker also creates perfect bundles at speeds of up to 16,000 cycles per hour. Format and bundle structures can be easily and quickly adjusted via the HMI (Human Machine Interface) control device. The compensating stacker can be completely integrated into the control system of a Muller Martini saddle stitcher and can be run comfortably from the stitcher’s touch-screen. For quick, automatic setup, the Perfetto can be optionally equipped with the Amrys (Automatic Make-Ready System). It is JDF/JMF capable.
In the Perfetto, the products are securely separated in the pre-stacking bin with a linear guided fork. The minimal product drop height from the stack bin into the turntable bin ensures perfectly centered bundles (in layers or cross-stacked.) Cycle time is 1.5 seconds at an ejection speed of only 0.6 m/second. The ejection direction can be to the left, the right or in alternation. Operation can be in one-up, two-up or three-up.

Robusto (Up to 30,000 Cycles/hr)
The Robusto compensating stacker is used as a powerful element in the production networks of medium and large-size high-performance saddle stitching systems. It produces perfect cross-stacks or layers of bundles at up to 30,000 copies per hour. As a result of its high degree of automation, the Robusto is ideally suited for postal route shipping. It’s optimized for integration into fully automatic, inline packaging lines with film-wrapping packaging and shrinking, addressing and palletizing.
Like the Perfetto, the Robusto is also controlled via a clear HMI display, can be fully integrated into the control system of the saddle stitcher and can be optionally equipped with the Amrys (Automatic Make-Ready System). It is JDF/JMF capable.
The transfer from the pre-stacking bin to the turntable bin is also completely gentle, with layer lift. The Robusto can also be used in one-up, two-up or three-up. The bundles are delivered according to a new ejection design principle, with a servo-driven, lowerable ejector. This reduces cycle time and ejects the bundles slowly and gently. The belt delivery can be optionally equipped with driven side belts, which support a stack with very light or slippery products, for example, until definitive fixation. Also, the electrostatic charging – installed as an option in the infeed or directly on the compensating stacker delivery – provides increased production reliability and optimal stack quality.

Softcover: Book Stacker CB-12 and CB-16
Muller Martini offers two book counter stackers for the efficient compensate-stacking of brochures, magazines, catalogs and book blocks:

CB-12 Book Counter Stacker (16,000 Cycles/hr)
Perfect-bound products can be precisely counted and neatly stacked with the CB-12. This counter stacker is primarily suited as a delivery after perfect binding lines, as a stacker after three-knife trimmers or as a pre-stacking device for three-knife trimmers.
Depending on the number of books per layer and the maximum book thickness, up to 16,000 copies can be stacked off per hour. The CB-12 is easy to operate and can be moved quickly, with the help of adjustable transport wheels. The fast, toolless size change is another advantage of the CB-12, which can be used successfully for universal application in an exacting production chain.

CB-16 Book Counter Stacker (18,000 Cycles/hr)
The CB-16 is the robust, universal machine for three-shift operations. With speeds of up to 18,000 copies per hour, it provides both reliable processing of heavy books up to 2-13/16” (70mm) in thickness (such as telephone books, catalogs, etc.) as well as for difficult products, up to 1/8” (3mm) thin. Straight or offset stacks can be created (as desired) and delivered entirely as required for manual removal or further inline processing.
Jobs can be saved in a dialog procedure via the programmable PLC control with alphanumeric display, and can then be recalled at any time. The CB-16 provides for perfect stacks behind a three-knife trimmer, an inserting machine or as a reject delivery in high-speed systems.

The BLSD 650 book stacker offers a wide selection of stack patterns.

Hardcover: BLSD 650 Book Stacker (3,900 Cycles/hr)
In the BLSD 650 from Muller Martini/VBF, each book is positioned precisely on the separating belt and then assumed by the rotating discs when the machine stops. Through this procedure, even the most sensitive book covers and dust jackets are processed carefully and without marking – even at full speed. The BLSD’s rotating discs then grip the book from above and below. The BLSD 650 is the only book stacker on the market with synchronized driven rotating discs, which ensure that the books do not warp when turning. Turning can be done at 90° and 180°, in both directions. The stack is built up book for book from below. Once the desired stack height is reached, the pile pusher gently contacts the stack and pushes it onto the delivery, which is driven synchronized to the pile pusher. The stack remains compact and stable in its shape – even at the minimum size and with full flap books. Thanks to the extremely product-protective operating methods of the BLSD 650, the bookbinder can rely on an impeccable and gentle handling of his or her books, even for books with high-quality configurations.
In order to offer the right solution for every need, the BLSD 650 is available as an end stacker and as a bypass stacker. In the version as a BLSD 650 D bypass stacker, it switches automatically from processing to the buffer function in case of a downstream machine stop and delivers the arriving books in stacks. Of course, the books can be turned 90 or 180 degrees during purely continuous processing, as well, and thus fed to the downstream machine in every desired position. Operation of the BLSD is extremely simple. In connection with the Diamant bookline, the BLSD 650 is adjusted completely via the bookline’s Commander. Neither manual intervention nor a test run is required. If the stacker is not used in connection with the Diamant, the size and stack pattern is input directly on the stacker’s control panel. The BLSD offers a very wide selection of stack patterns: simple stacking, offset stacking, rotated and offset stacking. All stack patterns are possible up to a pile height of 13-7/16” (340mm).
