The list of new features and improvements on the “new” Alprinta V is a long one: One example is the sliding protective cover now fitted to each Alprinta printing unit (previously the covers were hinged). This gives better access and makes it easier to change the insert. The footsteps on the printing unit have been set back, so that operators can get closer to the rubber blanket and the plate in order to clean them. They adopt a more ergonomic posture as they carry out the work which puts less strain on the spinal column and the back. Access has been further improved now that there are now two steps up and their height has been raised. This represents a benefit that should not be underrated, particularly for operators of smaller stature when they clean or fill the ink fountain.

The control system has also been improved; it is now possible to make printing length adjustments and separate printing width adjustments on each printing unit. This means that in the set-up process for printing on flexible substrates, “real” printing lengths and widths can easily be adjusted on the control system touchscreen. The performance of the new AR 4000 digital register controller has also improved considerably. The print marks are located more quickly, the detection range is larger and the response speed of the system can be increased with the use of several cameras. The IDM 4000 in-line ink control system, presented for the first time at drupa, is also remarkable. It measures and regulates the ink during production. This reduces set-up waste and make-ready time considerably, which also means that fewer resources are consumed. The new in-line ink control system also achieves a very high level of consistency throughout a print run. This means that the product is top quality from the start and the first copy looks exactly like the last.
New flexo printing unit for hybrid solutions The Alprinta web offset press was designed for the production of premium quality commercial work and mailings, with the Alprinta V version developed for the manufacture of flexible packaging and labels on paper and foil. A new flexo printing unit has been developed for the hybrid machines used for printing packaging and labels. Thanks to servo-drive technology, it has the same infinitely variable size feature as the offset printing units. Whilst sizes on offset printing units are changed by replacing the practical, lightweight and low-cost carbon fiber cylinders, on the flexo printing unit it is merely necessary to put a different size sleeve on the air shaft. All the positioning needed during a size change is motorized and is set automatically when the job is changed.
Available in two widths The Alprinta V is available in two widths (520 mm and 740 mm) and can be operated at speeds up to 365 m/min (1200 ft/min). It permits rapid size changes with printing lengths of 20” to 281/3“, that is 508 mm to 720 mm.
