Welcome to Muller Martini
New inserting system: The FlexLiner Helps to Promote Innovative Insert Marketing
The new FlexLiner inserting system from Muller Martini, which will be presented for the first time at the drupa 2012, increases efficiency in the mailroom, creates security in traditional newspaper production and offers new possibilities in product design.
The newspaper and advertising markets are characterized by cost reductions, restructuring measures and a high level of competition pressure. Thanks to its modular expansion capability, the new FlexLiner inserting system from Muller Martini provides customers with the highest level of flexibility and investment protection.

The FlexLiner from Muller Martini impresses with its high level of quality, flexibility, and security – at an outstanding price-performance ratio.

Flexibility thanks to modular system concept
The open system architecture means the FlexLiner can be extended in a flexible manner. If the production requirements change, our customers are able to react to them immediately. For example, the FlexLiner can be expanded with two-piece or four-piece modules up to a maximum of 30 insert stations. Depending on our customers’ needs, the insert stations can be loaded manually or with a stream feeder. The machine offers additional possibilities of individual addressing in the delivery conveyor as well as the integration of a labeling system or a card gluer.

FlexAd – a world premiere from Muller Martini
With FlexFeed, the selective main product feeder, our customers have many new opportunities to differentiate their products. In addition to normal inserts production, with the ability to use up to three feeding positions – manual feeding, from FlexiRoll or directly from the printing press – inserts in the form of a FlexAd can be placed on the front or back side of the main product. Given this eye-catching position, every FlexAd stands out from all other types of inserts and enables our customers to have a significantly higher marketing impact than conventional inserts. Using the co-mailing method, up to three printed products can be processed at the same time, allowing different publications to be bundled together for distribution and dispatch. The system also accommodates complex mailroom requirements such as zoning and regionalizing, plus the growing diversity of inserts or pre-printed sections.

Given their eye-catching position, every FlexAd stands out from other types of inserts, enabling our customers to have a significantly higher marketing impact than conventional inserts.

With up to 30,000 cycles per hour, the FlexLiner is the ideal inserting system for small and medium-sized newspaper businesses. Due to its high production speed, it can efficiently produce print runs of up to 100,000 copies. Also for advertising newspapers with print runs between 50,000 and 500,000 or mailing packages with print runs of up to a million copies, the FlexLiner is the right choice thanks to its flexibility and cost-effectiveness.

Cost-effective zone production with MPC
With the trend towards more precise regionalizing, more inserts and additional external publications, operational sequences in the mailroom are becoming increasingly more complex. The Mailroom Production Control (MPC) system from Muller Martini links together all sub-processes, and supports an optimal workflow, thereby providing for a cost-effective use of the machine in the mailroom. MPC coordinates the feeder allocation on the FlexLiner and helps the machine operators to correctly configure the products.

Simple Operation and Maintenance
The accessibility and process visibility in the gathering sections as well as of the inserting wheel increase efficiency in production and reduce the need for maintenance. With automated size adjustments, changes that do not require tools as well as the possibility of making fine adjustments during operation, jobs can be changed over quickly and efficiently while guaranteeing the highest level of product quality. In addition, the FlexLiner is remote compatible. Using the MMRemote service module, Muller Martini can get in contact with the machine at the customers’ site online, keeping maintenance and servicing costs at an absolute minimum.
