Diamant MC produces already in 23 countries
Since its market launch three years ago the Diamant MC Bookline convinces more and more new users. Books are produced efficiently and in high quality with this machine.

The Diamant MC with innovative Motion Control technology was presented for the first time at drupa 2008. Motion Control ensures efficient and accurate productions. The intelligent mechatronic machine concept optimizes product-related movements of the individual process steps. It reduces operating expenses and increases the reliability of the production process.

High-tech for added value
Managing Director Detlef Brall from Stein + Lehmann where the machine is in use since 2009 is completely satisfied with this bookline. „Production has become more accurate and we can actually sell every first book. In addition, servo technology has eliminated the need for several machine parts, which means less wear and tear.“ Rolf Kanzler, Head of bookbinding at fgb. freiburger graphische betriebe in Freiburg, Germany also experiences the reliability and the precision of the Diamant MC. Thrilled by its quick installation, he reports: “Only five working days after the Diamant MC had arrived at our premises, we produced books of perfect quality and it continues. Since then, we have produced only perfectly finished books.”

Satisfied customers in 23 countries
The success of the Diamant MC speaks for itself. It convinces more and more bookbinders. The Diamant MC was sold around 70 times - nine are producing in Germany alone.  Overall, it is now in use in 23 countries worldwide. The users appreciate the reliability and the quality that this machine generates. „We were looking for a machine that could provide uniform quality and got a machine that also enables an output of considerably larger quantities of books. It provides the prerequisites to increase business into the future“, reports photo book producer Jacco Buurmann from Albumprinter in the Netherlands. Jürgen Weber, Head of Finishing, at the calendar and notebook producer Geiger in Wiesbaden likes the repeatability of the job settings. “The servo motors provide the fastest and most accurate machine adjustments that can be retrieved identically over and over again. This way, already the first book in a production is of the highest quality”.

Constructive solutions for special products
The users appreciate the manifold of possibilities the Diamant MC has to offer. There is hardly any special product that cannot be produced with it. Whether it is classical books from publishing houses, photo books or CD booklets – the Diamant MC is the ideal means of production. Muller Martini approaches the task for new product models in the most constructive way. „ No product was too unusual for Muller Martini to come up with a solution for efficient production,“ said company representative and production manager Franz Eisenmann of Baier & Schneider in Heilbronn. Steven A. Brown, President of CDS Publications in the US, explains it very clearly: “Muller Martini was able to develop equipment to meet all of our quality and product requirements - something the competition was unable to do.”

Continuing to be number „One“ – through constant progress and development
The Muller Martini Book Technology team in Bad Mergentheim makes sure that the Diamant MC remains the number one bookline worldwide by constant updating. Development on the Diamant MC is a continuous progress – always in dialog with the users. This led for example to the creation of the Tandem station (see box), which offers headband changes without empty cycles. The fast change-over is shortened even more by the variable case feeding station. The automatically adjustable case forming iron also contributes to change-over reduction. No downtime of the machine is the goal – always with the highest quality standard.

The Tandem headbanding station consists of two identical headbanding stations (fig. 1). The tandem allows rapid bookline changeover. While the headbanding station 2 is producing (fig. 2), station 1 is preparing (patent pending). Trim width and length are adjusted. Station 1 is activated as soon as the previous production finishes (fig. 3) and production continues without any empty cycle (fig. 4).
Also for large print runs, the Tandem station is highly advantageous. Jobs no longer need to be stopped when headband roll or backliner finish. The next roll takes over without any idle time. Before one roll reaches its end, the twin station is preparing while production is running, and smoothly takes over headbanding.
