New Muller Martini Mailroom Solution for Main-Echo (Germany)
Main-Echo, based in Aschaffenburg, Germany, can now simultaneously insert twice as many inserts as previously, thanks to a new mailroom solution from Muller Martini, which includes a ProLiner inserting system and a FlexiRoll buffer system.

Based in the Bavarian town of Aschaffenburg, Main-Echo GmbH & Co. KG is a printing house specializing in commercial work and is already a loyal customer of Muller Martini, placing its trust in three finishing branches with a press delivery system featuring the Avanti log stacker and Exacto rotary trimmer, a new Bolero perfect binder and two Prima Amrys and BravoPlus saddle stitchers. And recently, the company also became the proud owners of a Muller Martini ProLiner solution for its production in the newspaper printing plant. According to Reinhard Golembiewski, there were two main reasons for adopting the newspaper inserting system, which has over eight feeders and is combined with the Mailroom Production Control system: “The first benefit for us is that we now have a clear supplier structure for all our finishing solutions, and the second is that the ProLiner offers a number of production benefits.”

Advantageous Modular Design

The managing director was quick to point out the good accessibility, which allows operators to work ergonomically. Reinhard Golembiewski also highlighted that the modular design of the ProLiner means that it is simple to expand in the event of changing economic conditions. “We are envisaging expanding at a later date, as fine zoning is continuing to gain in importance. This will allow us, for example, to win insert orders for smaller distribution areas with minimal distribution losses.”

The ProLiner is not Main-Echo's only Muller Martini investment; it also owns NewsGrip-A conveyors, FlexiRoll buffers, four NewsStack stackers and four TABA-I top sheet applicators with inkjet. The buffer system featuring nine FlexiRoll docking stations and 50 FlexiRoll bases offers the newspaper printing house considerably greater flexibility, as everything was inserted online prior to the new investment. Not only was the number of inserts restricted to four; the finishing on a Main-Echo run of 90,000 copies was also labor intensive. “This is why the FlexiRoll buffer system is so impressive,” stresses Reinhard Golembiewski, “and thanks to the ProLiner, we now have the capacity to feed eight inserts at the same time.”

Along with “top shop,” the weekly paper published in-house with a run of 235,000 copies, commercial work of up to 125 g in weight and produced in part by the Main-Echo printing house situated opposite is also inserted in the “Main-Echo.” Moreover, pre-printed sections for the eight part editions can be printed during the day, rolled up and then added to the main jacket by the ProLiner overnight.
