Into the Future with Bolero and Optima
Farbendruck Weber AG in Biel western Switzerland is renowned for its high level of quality. Therefore it was no surprise that they again chose Muller Martini investing further,in a Bolero perfect binder and Optima saddle stitcher.


With quick changeover times and high net output, the new Bolero meets the highest of standards for producing quality products with low based manufacturing costs .

With around 260 employees, the company offers its services from prepress, printing, binding to distribution. With modern production machinery and well-trained staff, the company is able to produce quality books, magazines, brochures and leaflets.

Every year Fabrendruck Werber manufactures around 16 million perfectly-bound brochures. With run lengths of up to 700 000 copies. For these vast paper quantities, Farbendruck Weber utilizes aNormbinder and a Starbinder from Muller Martini. However, the 23-year old Normbinder’s days are numbered. It is to be replaced by a new Bolero B8 perfect binder line with an 18-station gatherer and book block feeder and stack loading The new perfect binder is equipped with two shot hotmelt gluing, VPN PUR book spine nozzle, ANSY moistening system and a book measuring device. The system also has a splitting saw with turnover belt for two up production, Zenith S three-knife trimmer for high performance trim quality at speeds of up to 7000 cycles per hour as well as a CB-16 book counter stacker. With its new perfect binding line, Fabendruck Werber will now be able to increase its use of PUR processing. The chosen gatherer also allows for inline card gluing.


The new Optima saddle stitcher with Streamfeeder loading will shortly be installed to replace an existingMM 300 Saddle Stitching Line in Biel.

New Optima and Expansion in Saddle Stitching
Existing saddle stitching machinery is to be up-graded the MM 300 Saddle StitchIing Line will be replaced by a new Optima equipped with six flat pile feeders, a folder feeder and a merchandise tipper. The new is system is loaded by Streamfeeder and boasts the ASIR 3 automatic signature type control, stitching machine with rotating delivery and SEMKO side thickness measurement as well as an oblique sheet monitor. A swing-cut trimmer with fourth and fifth knife attachment ensures the products are perfectly trimmed and a Robusto compensating stacker, complete with the Amrys automatic presetting system, takes care of the stacking An existing Optima saddle stitcher from 2002 will be up-graded with Streamfeeder loading and Asir 3 contol system.Farbendruck now own four Muller Martini Saddle Stitchers a 335, Prima and two Optima’swith the latest technology for producing wire-stitched products.

The new machines are to be put into production at different stages during 2007. This means the company in Biel will be equipped to meet their customer’s needs now and for their future requiements.
