Herzog AG has the First Presto E90 with the New Laserblue in Switzerland
Because of its quick set-up, the printing house Herzog AG in Langendorf in Solothurn chose a new Muller Martini Presto E90 saddle stitcher with eight stations, cover feeder and Apollo stacker. It is the first saddle stitcher of this type with the new Muller Martini Laserblue design in Switzerland.

The three-knife trimmer is one of the technological highlights of the new Presto E90 saddle stitcher. It was completely redesigned, and thanks to simplified accessibility and a modified cutting sequence, its set up can be made even easier. That was one of the main reasons why the printing house Herzog AG chose the Presto E90 as successor of the older saddle stitcher 1509. A second important reason for the investment in the new saddle stitcher, which will be going into operation in October, were the quality checks – especially the automatic signature recognition, Asir 3. With this, the family business, founded in 1967 by Paul Herzog in Langendorf/SO and run today by his son Adrian, is increasing its production reliability even more.

High Level of Automation
The Presto E90, which was introduced at drupa, is the most productive and efficient saddle stitcher on the market for small to medium-size runs, thanks to its space saving layout combined with a high level of automation. Very efficient and flexible runs can be realized at speeds of up to 9000 cycles per hour. Set-up times are significantly quicker thanks to servo drives. The stitcher is automatically being synchronized – depending on the size – with the three-knife trimmer over an electrical shaft.

The synchronization of the gathering chain to the feeders is also automated. With up to six flying stitching heads, the Presto E90 stitches products gently and, as the only saddle stitcher in this performance class, without any stop-and-go movement. This is unique for a saddle stitcher in this class.

The new Q-stitching heads (quick set-up), developed for the high-performance segment, guarantee a perfect stitching quality with a minimum level of maintenance and easy accessibility. Changeover time is very fast and the stitching wire can be set up very quickly. Moreover, the Presto E90 has a large and user-friendly touchscreen. A set-up assistant guides the operator through each step of the order set-up – from the feeders right to the trimmer. Job configurations can be saved and reloaded, which further reduces the set-up time.
