Ipex 2010: Successful Exhibition for Muller Martini
Thanks to numerous sales, a number of new projects and lots of interesting discussions with customers at Ipex 2010, Muller Martini enjoyed a positive exhibition experience. Alongside the launch of the new MMServices service concept, the machine innovations really brought in the crowds.

The visitors were captivated by the presentation of the new technical developments under the motto “Grow with Productivity”. The successful sales of all three machine innovations at the exhibition stand show that, even in a changing market environment, the solutions from Muller Martini meet the needs of the customer perfectly. “We are especially pleased with the sales and the numerous interesting project discussions with both existing and new customers,” reported Bruno Müller, CEO of Muller Martini. “This makes us optimistic about future business development.”

The Muller Martini stand at the Ipex in Birmingham aroused great interest in visitors from all over the world on each of the exhibition days.

Each day, the new, powerful Primera 160 saddle stitcher produced the Ipex Daily to a high quality at the exhibition stand. This newspaper provides up-to-date news on the events at the exhibition. The first sale of this machine was agreed with the Baumann Druck printing house in Kulmbach (Germany), a member of the Oberfranken Media Group. The Primera impressed Baumann Druck with its high productivity and extremely flexible production opportunities that make it the most efficient saddle stitcher in its production class.

Closing the sale of a Bolero B9 line at the Ipex stand (left to right): Alois Hochstrasser, Director of Muller Martini Marketing AG, Peter Scherrer, Managing Director, Michael Scherrer, Production Manager, Hansjuerg Scherrer, Managing Director, Carlos Sequeira, Machine Operator, Christian Schweikl, Machine Operator, all of Scherrer AG bindery and Richard Hofer, Sales Manager at Muller Martini Marketing AG.

The new Bolero B9 perfect binder was also key to successful sales. A purchaser was found in the Scherrer AG bindery from Urdorf (Switzerland). The line that produces 9000 cycles an hour is equipped with a 24-station 3694 gathering machine, a Frontero front trimmer, an Orbit three-knife trimmer, a CB18 book stacker and processes PUR with the VPN book spine nozzle and the SPN side glue nozzle. The Bolero line will leave competitors’ existing systems standing and will be ready for operation at the beginning of fall.

Two Presto E90 saddle stitchers were sold to English customers: one line is heading to PDS Print, Plymouth and another to Fairprint Ltd., Dundee. The highly automated saddle stitcher with a production speed of 9000 cycles per hour is equipped with a setup wizard, which reduces set-up and changeover times considerably.
