The productivity of the perfect binding line has been considerably improved with the new gathering machine 3697. With our worldwide unique, patented signature separation, the bottommost signature is peeled off the residual stack parallel to the back – like skin being peeled off a piece of fruit. As it is peeled off the stack, the signature is flexed. This gives it inherent stability. To make sure it is delivered without any damage, the signature is completely enveloped in a cushion of separating air and then held very firmly and securely for conveying lengthwise out of the hopper.

The Orbit three-knife trimmer with improved cutting performance
The robust Orbit three-knife trimmer takes care of the cutting. With the unique level of automation on this three-knife trimmer, make-ready times are a maximum of three minutes. All the settings can be optimised as the machine is running, so that the required quality and productivity can be achieved within the shortest time possible. The mechanical output of the Orbit can be increased to 7,200 cycles/hour and it can cleanly cut 80 mm. thick products.  One reason for this is the new servo-driven SmartPress technology. It makes for a gentle and controlled pressing process that allows the air between the sheets of paper to escape completely.
