The Variable Front-Trim Technology Ensures Further Increases in Net Output with the Tempo 22
The three-knife trimmer 304 with automatic front-trim control in the high-performance Tempo 22 saddle stitching line from Muller Martini enables variable trimming with production speeds of up to 22,000 cycles per hour.

The Muller Martini three-knife trimmer 304 is a reliable, accurate high-speed solution that is particularly well suited to complex, customized products and products with significant thickness variations. The variable front-trim technology patented by Muller Martini offers a host of advantages:

  • Significantly reduced setup time
  • Capacity to vary each product width by up to 30 mm as required
  • Exact book size even with large page increments (+/- 100 pages)
  • Automatic width adjustment during production.


The three-knife trimmer 304 in the high-performance Muller Martini Tempo 22 saddle stitching line is perfectly suited to complex, customized products and products with significant thickness variations.

Some of the world's key manufacturers of magazines, catalogs and B2B brochures are currently using variable Muller Martini trimming technology and capitalizing on the clearly measurable advantages it offers. Variable trimming technology has been the hot topic in the graphics industry for a while now, but there was some concern over potential loss of production speed. However, users of the new three-knife trimmer 304 are achieving significantly higher net output at higher cycle times.

The variable front-trim technology enables finishers to expand their customer base by highlighting the advantages of parallel production of numerous titles and format sizes – that is, a single process with parallel mailing – to both existing and potential customers. In-line processing of numerous titles with varying format sizes lowers production costs, as the expenditure on transport, storage and personnel is reduced.
