Muller Martini Corona perfect binder attains its 300th sale

Installation at a bookbindery in Germany marks a milestone for Muller Martini in the
high-performance perfect binder market segment

Since its introduction nearly a decade and a half ago, the Corona perfect binder has the largest sustained installed base of any perfect binder.  In addition, the Corona has earned a well-deserved reputation for robust performance and reliability.  The first Corona was installed in Germany in 1994 and is still in operation.  Today, Corona lines have become the cornerstone of adhesive binding production at binderies and printing companies all over the globe.

Recently, Muller Martini observed the sale of its 300th Corona line.  The machine was purchased by Münchner Industriebuchbinderei (MIB), a bookbindery located in Munich, Germany.

“The Corona perfect binding platform brings a wide range of advantages to manufacturing operations, raising productivity, reducing labor costs and building profits” said Jim Kaeli, Division Manager of Book & Publication Binding at Muller Martini Corp.  “The numerous successes that have been the hallmark of Corona installations are testaments to the machine’s superior engineering and its versatile capabilities.”

The Muller Martini Corona binder produces adhesive bound products in a wide range of sizes and formats at up to 18,000 cycles per hour, providing the flexibility to handle both large-volume and short-run jobs.  Among its industry-leading features is the shortest set-up time in its class, featuring computer assisted motorized make-ready in 15 minutes.  Specifications for up to 1,000 jobs can be pre-programmed, stored, and quickly recalled, eliminating the time-consuming task of entering data repeatedly – speeding changeovers and also ensuring consistency from job to job.

A new touchscreen operator interface makes the system very user-friendly, while decentralized and ergonomically placed remote control panels allow for automatic, on-the-fly adjustments at every station.  Furthermore, new electronics in the gatherer assure precise and accurate signature collation.  Another key feature of the Corona perfect binder is its highly modular design that enables it to be tailored specifically to the individual business strategies and unique requirements of each customer.
