Muller Martini invites show visitors to “grow with us” at successful drupa 2008

Muller Martini is very happy with the results the company achieved during the recently completed drupa show held in Germany.  CEO Rudolf Müller summarized the event by saying: “We were successful in demonstrating the innovative power of Muller Martini to visitors. The new generation of machines has elicited a profound response, and numerous new projects have been launched.”

Using the slogan “Grow with us”, Muller Martini presented a completely new generation of machines at drupa 2008 in Düsseldorf, Germany – underscoring the company’s commitment to partnering with its customers in order to help customers grow their businesses through new and innovative ideas.  The new machine generation features a new ergonomic design and Muller Martini introduced its new color, Laser Blue.  Also highlighted at drupa were many trend-setting innovations from Muller Martini's Print Finishing Systems, Bookbinding Systems, Mailing Systems, OnDemand Solutions and Printing Presses business divisions.

Visitor interest was high on all exhibition days at drupa with many Muller Martini technologies making their world premieres and becoming the center of attention at the show.

The special highlight was the new Primera saddle stitcher series for the medium performance range. The Primera series was introduced in three different automation levels including the Primera A110 (entry level model for the full size range with 11,000 cycle per hour running speed), the Primera C130 (standard model with partial automation and 13,000 c/hr. speed) and the Primera E140 (highly automated model, running at 14,000 c/hr.). With this new series of saddle stitchers, Muller Martini offers a system solution which can be precisely tailored to customer needs and later – because of its modularity – can be easily expanded.

Many other systems were debuted at drupa:

The fully automatic Muller Martini Apila palletizing system which can be used universally to process loose, blocked, foil wrapped or strapped bundles.

The two level double stream model of the Preciso rotary trimmer which is designed to maximize space savings after the press delivery and promises excellent trim quality.

For the newspaper industry another premiere in Düsseldorf was the new CoLiner pregathering system. The CoLiner was demonstrated in combination with the ProLiner high performance inserting system, a configuration that offers the user even greater layout flexibility, especially in cases of limited space in the mailroom for both direct inserting and Sunday package production.

Furthermore, Muller Martini showcased its new 3697 gathering machine featuring a revolutionary separating principle. The machine was demonstrated in combination with the proven high performance Corona C18 perfect binder producing live work. During this demonstration, drupa visitors experienced another very special premiere at the Muller Martini booth: PUR production at 18,000 cycles/hour.

Two web offset printing presses, Alprinta V and Concepta, were presented to underscore offset press improvements for commercial and flexible film packaging applications.

SigmaLine, the fully automated total system for commercial digital book production was one of the biggest attractions. It’s ability to handle current and future print technologies in an end-to-end solution for the high volume production of short run softcover books impressed the  audience of printers and publishers alike.

Other Muller Martini business divisions presented continuous CIP4 capable solutions and numerous innovations. For example, the Diamant bookline and the Ventura book sewing machine with motion control (MC) were shown where new servo technology makes even higher net output possible.

And last but not least, Muller Martini demonstrated the new Connex workflow system which allows all Muller systems to be networked with a customer’s management information system (MIS).

All this highlighting the extensive product range Muller Martini has to offer.
