Southwest Offset Printing adds to its success with proven mailroom technology from Muller Martini

Company purchases its third Muller Martini SLS3000 inserting line to satisfy recently announced additional contract work and to gain competitive advantage in their region

Southwest Offset Printing, one of California’s largest privately held, full-service printing companies, has ten operational press lines which produce approximately 75,000 tons of printed products every year, 24/7. They produce several daily, weekly, and monthly publications, including The New York Times, The London Financial Times, Christian Science Monitor, Daily Racing Form, and The Hollywood Reporter.

Southwest Offset has once again selected the Muller Martini SLS3000 inserter for it’s mailroom operation due to the success of two other SLS3000 inserters (the 14:2 and the 10:2) purchased in 2004. Their new SLS3000 30:2 was the optimal, progressive choice due to speed of up to 32,000 cycles per hour.  In addition, the SLS assures quick make-readys, and proven net throughputs that can handle extraordinarily tight windows, all features that translate to higher profit potential.

There were other compelling advantages.  Jose Martinez, Packaging Manager at Southwest, commented, “I chose the Muller SLS3000 for a number of reasons.  Their support, training, and staff are by far the best I have worked with.  Every Muller Martini technician is an expert in their assigned area and offers practical, real-world solutions. Plus, with our other SLS3000 inserters, I’ve experienced first-hand why Muller Martini has the most advanced technology, proven reliability, and an excellent industry reputation.” But perhaps the most critical reason of all is that the SLS3000 clearly positions Southwest Offset as an innovative solution provider for all its customers.  “It locks in our future,” said Martinez, “giving us the capacity to service both new and future clients.”

The robust and versatile Muller Martini SLS3000 inserting system features a linear design that provides flexible processing of many different types of products.  The feeders allow scaleable settings, are simple to operate and can be adjusted while the machine is running.  Due to a unique pocket design and high feeder reliability, light products with only a few pages can be produced as easily as bulky weekend editions with up to 1,200 tabloid pages.
