Muller Martini to demonstrate new high-speed Tempo 22 stitcher at Print ’05
Hauppauge, New York – Muller Martini, world leader in print finishing solutions, is setting the industry pace again with the company’s new Tempo 22 saddle stitcher. Tempo 22, which will be demonstrated during Print ’05 (September 9-15, 2005 in Chicago, Illinois), has a rated top speed of 22,000 cycles per hour to deliver incomparable productivity and efficiency to binding operations.

“The new Tempo 22 represents Muller Martini’s emphatic response to the challenge of getting net speeds as close as possible to rated speeds,” says Werner Naegeli, President and CEO of Muller Martini Corp. “After its recent introduction, Tempo 22 is already proving itself to be the optimal standard in saddle stitching performance, topping 18,000 to 19,000 cycles per hour in start-up environments.  Print ’05 attendees can see the Tempo 22 for themselves by visiting our booth, #4018.”

Muller Martini’s new Tempo 22 will be shown in operation on the show floor at Print ’05 as a comprehensive and highly advanced stitching platform that includes a flat pile feeder, folder feeder, trimmer, Robusto stacker and several other technologies. Among the many advantages of the Tempo 22 that will be highlighted at Print ‘05 are the machine’s versatile capabilities for in-line inkjetting and its ability to handle tip-on production.  In addition to the Tempo 22, Muller Martini will also be showing its 9,000 c/hr. Presto saddle stitcher as well as the 13,000 c/hr. BravoPlus saddle stitcher. The Presto can be seen at booth #4018 and the BravoPlus at booth #4286.

Complementing its amazing running speed, Tempo 22 features fast, repeatable and user-friendly makeready settings that enable operators to set up and change jobs almost instantly utilizing intuitive touchscreen controls – saving labor costs while allowing more jobs to be completed with shorter turnarounds.  Furthermore, all production optimization settings on the Tempo 22 stitcher are conveniently located on the outside of the machine for timesaving on-the-fly adjustments.

Tempo 22 features automated servo and AMRYS (Automatic MakeReady System) technology throughout the system for unparalleled robust performance and production efficiency.  A precision servo-driven trimmer with automatic face cut control assures constant trim quality at all speeds on the Tempo 22, even when ramping up and down. Importantly, the ergonomically-designed Tempo 22 does not require operators to come in contact with moving parts, maximizing safety.

The Muller Martini Tempo 22 is engineered to bring greater flexibility to post-press operations, boasting open control architecture to complement any binder controller with Profibus interface and enabling installation with nearly seamless ease.  Tempo 22 is also, JDF/JMF capable using CIP4 standards for the most productive digital workflow.  Other key benefits include integrated material handling and loading automation designed for reliable high-speed feeding with any product or configuration...including loose stacks, bundles and rolls.  What’s more, Tempo 22 is designed for growing printing and binding demands, featuring expandable capability to 40 feeders along with a wide diversity of loading options.

Visitors to Print ’05 are urged to stop by the Muller Martini exhibit (booth #4018, McCormick Place South Building) and see a demonstration of the new Tempo 22 and several other Muller Martini saddle stitching technologies.  Experts will also be available throughout the show to discuss how Muller Martini’s vast range of print finishing solutions can increase sales potential, raise productivity and build profits for printers, binding companies and graphic arts businesses throughout the marketplace.

Print ’05 is the world’s largest exhibition of equipment, supplies and services for commercial printing, package printing and converting.  Print ’05 takes place September 9-15, 2005 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois.
