Imprimerie Rockslon in Rognac, France — The Exacto rotary trimmer from Muller Martini, which has proved itself the world over, offers cost-effective, precision trimming on three or four sides. During the course of 2004, two special Exacto trimming lines with a "Loop" solution were installed at Imprimerie Rockson in Rognac (France). This positioning configuration allows inline trimming despite limited space, resulting in crucial economic advantages. Space limitations are also a concern in the typical US pressrooms; space saving solutions are developed by Muller Martini to provide automation possibilities for existing installations.

The production lines pick up the printed products from the printing presses, and by means of Muller Martini’s Newsveyor overhead and Floorveyor conveyor lines, feed the product stream to the two Exacto trimmers that are set up inline. This means that the rotary trimmer configurations are not in the traditional corner configuration but rather inline allowing products to be fed through the two trimmers to produce three and four-sided trimming in a more efficient manner. In order to be able to achieve this arrangement, Muller Martini has specially developed a "Loop" solution that reorientates the shingle stream while inline before proceeding to the final trimming station. Having been trimmed, products are then stacked into the Forte compensating stacker, after which they are passed on to the Cohiba palletizing system, which economically palletizes the output.

The two new rotary trimming lines at Rockson deliver the best possible quality and efficiency, while utilizing the smallest possible floor space. The capability of carrying out additional working processes, such as stacking and palletizing in a single operation, brings with it economic advantages that are of more and more importance these days.
