News Saddle Stitching
Muller stitching wire complies with new lead content laws

Meets or exceeds Safety Commission’s latest requirements

Beginning February 10, 2009, new laws will take affect regarding lead content in children’s products.  The new laws are based on requirements set forth by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.  Muller Martini PerformancePlus stitching wire meets or exceeds those requirements.

By utilizing Muller Martini PerformancePlus wire in saddle stitched products such as children’s books, book manufacturers can be assured that they are in compliance with new Congressionally-mandated laws.  A material data safety sheet is available by contacting the Muller Martini Parts Department at 1-888-2-Muller.  Muller customers can also contact their Regional Sales Manager.

In addition to meeting or exceeding the CPSC’s new requirements for lead content, top quality Muller Martini PerformancePlus stitching wire offers several production advantages to book manufacturers.  PerformancePlus wire provides excellent tensile strength which can reduce per-stitch costs while also enabling lower-gauge wire to be utilized, reducing postal costs.  Other advantages include: Molecular surface treatment to prevent burrs, cracking and flaking; Minimized maintenance because stitching heads remain virtually clog-free; Versatile performance in both regular and loop stitching applications; Resistance to breaking; Optimal bending and forming characteristics; Clean and bright finish free of excess oil and dirt to provide trouble-free de-spooling; Consistent wire size; and Uniform coating.
