After Hardcover, Matsumoto is Now Also Using Softcover – with an Alegro

06/07/2016

For the first time in its company history, Matsumoto, which is based in Japan's Kitakyushu City, is investing in a perfect binder, and it has opted for Muller Martini's Alegro.

65 percent of Matsumoto's production is hardcover photo books for schools using a Muller Martini Diamant MC 60 book line. The remaining production is made up by the Commercial Printing sector. In order to diversify these two sectors, the company, with a workforce of 300, plans to expand digital printing in the coming years. Company owner and President, Keizaburo Matsumoto, signed a purchase agreement at drupa for an Alegro perfect binding line with a Granit four-station gathering machine and three-knife trimmer to continue to be prepared for print finishing in the future.

"I only know Muller Martini...," says the grinning Keizaburo Matsumoto in response to the question as to why he chose Muller Martini for the first perfect binder at his company while quickly adding two major technical reasons for investing in the Alegro: "On the one hand, the high level of profitability thanks to faster production speeds and great flexibility, on the other."
