“The Hardcover Market is Booming in China”

05/15/2017

The 9th China Print in Beijing attracted a record number of visitors and proved a great success for Muller Martini. Industry visitors were particularly excited by Muller Martini’s hardcover technology.

“The hardcover market in China is booming. Muller Martini established itself at the trade fair as a technology leader in the bookline segment with its Diamant MC technology,” says Sven Olsen, Managing Director of Muller Martini Asia Pacific. “We succeeded in consolidating our market position at the trade fair, which is also reflected by the agreed sale of three Diamant booklines.” One of those booklines forms part of a strategic cooperation related to digital book production that was signed with Beijing Artron Color Printing Co. on the second day of the trade fair. The agreement covers the sale and purchase of the first Diamant MC Digital bookline on the Chinese market and a Vareo perfect binding system.

High attendance at the Muller Martini booth – visitors to China Print took great interest in the live demos of the Vareo perfect binder and the Primera MC saddle stitcher.

Print Finishing Solutions Attract Great Interest

Visitors were chiefly interested in how they could boost efficiency by increasing automation at their businesses. The live demos of the Vareo perfect binding system and the Primera MC saddle stitching system at the booth were an excellent illustration of the advantages of highly automated machines. Both machines show the wide range of options for the finishing of print products in the digital and offset segments. Both systems will go straight from the trade fair booth to customers. The Vareo will be installed at the Liaoning Publishing Group, while the Primera MC will be put into operation at Jiangxi QianYe Colour Printing Co Ltd. The latter has also decided on an additional Primera MC, which will be delivered within just three months.

A Second Cooperation Agreement is Signed

“We’re delighted to have also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shandong Publishing & Media Co. Ltd. at China Print,” says Sven Olsen.  “The agreement covers Muller Martini’s involvement in the development of the four printing and binding factories that the Shandong Publishing & Media Co. Ltd. is overseeing.”

The managers of Jiangxi QianYe Colour Printing Co Ltd. decided to purchase two Primera MC saddle stitching systems at China Print.
