TNM Print: Diamant MC New with Ribbon and BLSD

TNM Print in Chlumec nad Cidlinou in the Czech Republic is equipping its Diamant MC bookline from Muller Martini with additional peripheral systems to increase the productivity and efficiency of the existing system.

Declining run lengths on the one hand and rising personnel costs on the other are forcing print shops to increase automation. TNM Print is responding to this development and will be expanding its Diamant MC book line in February 2021 with a Ribbon inserting machine and a BLSD book stacker from Muller Martini.

50 Percent Hardcover
The company is able to exploit the advantages of full-stage production, particularly when it comes to producing high-quality brochures, books, catalogs and magazines. In addition to printing, TNM Print attaches great importance to high-quality finishing and print enhancement in order to meet the requirements of publishing houses and industrial customers.

Despite its international focus, the average print run for books is now around 2,500 copies. In the finishing department, 50 percent of the order volume is accounted for by hardcover and 25 percent by softcover products – the rest are saddle-stitched brochures.

High investment security
The Diamant MC bookline has been in successful operation at TNM Print since 2014. Thanks to its modular design, the system can be easily expanded – which underlines the high investment security of Muller Martini solutions. The manual insertion of ribbons in particular is a time-consuming and therefore costly process. Even with the average runs mentioned, around 20 working hours have to be estimated for manual insertion.

From next February, this task will be taken over by the Ribbon inserting machine, which will be integrated into the Diamant MC and directly controlled via the bookline. The machine's high level of automation reduces makeready times and promises a rapid return on investment. The BLSD book stacker will take over the function of an end-of-line stacker in the bookline, thus significantly reducing the workload of TNM Print's employees at the delivery.

This is a typical example of how Muller Martini systems can grow with the demands of the market. This is why the Czech print shop is already considering further options for its Diamant MC.
