Fold down press FN 700

The FN 700 is used to hold down the fold of thread-sewn and glued book blocks in an optimum manner.

With the FN 700 hold-down press, the fold area of the book block is pressed to minimize the spine pitch of a thread-sewn book block. The FN 700 includes only the fold pressing station and can be used as an upstream machine or also as a downstream machine to the RF 700. In the FN 700, the pressing force is transmitted via toggle lever by a servo-controlled drive. During the pressing process, pre-press jaws hold the book block in place to prevent the middle stitching layers from moving. The stitching holes on the block spine are minimized by the pressing process and the spine inclination is largely eliminated. The motorized adjustment axes of the FN 700 allow fully automated format adjustments.

Fold down press FN 720

The FN 720 is used to hold down the fold of thread-sewn and glued book blocks in an optimum manner.

The hold-down press FN 720 is used to press the fold area of the book block after gluing and folding in order to minimize the spine inclination of the glued book block. This generates an angular block spine. It is used after the RF 700 backgluing machine and consists of two pressing stations arranged in parallel, which are fed via an upstream distribution switch. The pressing force at both stations is transmitted via toggle lever by servo-controlled drive. During the pressing process, pre-pressing jaws hold the book block in place to prevent deformation of the block spine. The motorized adjustment axes of the FN 720 allow fully automated format adjustments.
